Leadership
Formed in 1946, the dream of Hanover County having an organization dedicated to the realization of the principle of equality and justice for all people became reality. The Hanover Branch National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is a non-profit organization established with the objective of insuring the political, educational, social and economic equality of minority groups. The Hanover Branch NAACP has as its mission the goal of eliminating race prejudice and removing all barriers of racial discrimination through democratic processes.
As Hanover County's civil rights organization, the Hanover Branch NAACP has worked successfully with allies of all races who believe in and stand for the principles on which the organization was founded. Throughout its history, some of America's greatest minds have worked to effect change.
From corporate partnerships to tireless volunteer labor, the NAACP has evolved to meet the challenges of the day, while remaining true to its original mission. With renewed commitment, the new NAACP is poised to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
